Greetings, friends! This is Hannah here!
Today I get to share some really fun cards with you. These cards are very much in honor of one of my favorite fandoms! I like to watch a LOT of space stuff, hard science space stuff is my jam, my poor kid has watched so much of The Martian and Apollo 13 just as a quick example.
My daughter is 6 when I was her age I was creating lists of things NASA would need when they sent me to space. I never ignored any of the details: seatbelts to keep you on the toilet, windshield wipers, food, telescopes, etc. I clearly knew more than the experts, but this shows how long I've loved space stuff.
Working for Kindred Stamps is one of the really amazing experiences in my life because I get to ask for stamps that reflect my personal passions AND sometimes they come true, like The Next Space Explorers! I love the original show, just as much, and you can see my creations for that show here.
This card is probably the most "meta" of the collection. I know that the sentiment and my thought process don't really meld well, but I HAD to play with the "4 lights" idea. I just had too! My background was created by using Copic Markers to make a striped background, I just love that technique!
This is probably my favorite card, I LOVE a certain character, like A LOT. ;) I used Tonic's mirror cardstock for this. I really loved the idea of seeing myself on the card, as if the message is to me from the character. My only regret with this card is that I drew the silver stitching onto the black cardstock before it had adhered to the mirror cardstock. I really wished those lines matched up more.
If you saw my previous Space Explorers cards then you saw the same stencil being used. In fact, both backgrounds were made from the same session, MONTHS ago. The stencil was from a Papertrey Ink card kit. I used LOTS of Tonic glitter for the base of the background.
My sentiment is on the inside for this, and "Red Alert" is clear heat embossed over red ink for an extra special touch.
If you are a fan of these cards and want to learn more about the stamp set, I urge you to check them out at Kindred Stamps! It is currently on backorder, but it is expected to be able to ship shortly and you can still order it, it will ship when it is back in! Win!
