Hello All!
Anyone who follows my designs know that they are usually filled with bright and vibrant colors. So when I made this card with the Kindred Stamps Bursting Love set, I wanted to do something a little different and a little dark.
First, I colored my outer space baddie with only 4 Copic markers: N0, N2, N4, & N6. I was super happy with how the coloring turned out, and really happy that I was only able to do it with a few colors! Of course you can color any stamp any way you want, and I always encourage using the products that you already have. While you may get a slightly different look, I think you could easily use the Warm Grays or Cool Grays and make a fantastic creature!
After cutting out my image, I took a piece of black cardstock and cut it down to 4" x 5.25".
I took some Pixie Spray and applied it to my Swirl Stencil. After letting the stencil get tacky, I laid it on top of my black cardstock piece.
Quick Detour: You know what I love when I see a project that uses a stencil? It's so easy to swap out with any other stencil you love! Have a favorite stencil and/or favorite pattern? Use it! It's a great way to put your personality into your project!
I recently got my Onyx Gemstone Glitter Gloss, which was a part of the Kindred Stamps September Release, and I wanted to do a black on black effect. I used my Stencil Pal and applied a layer of the Onyx Glitter Gloss to my black cardstock. When I applied a solid layer, I peeled my stencil back and did a crafty happy dance because the Glitter Gloss was applied PERFECTLY!
One more quick detour: Kindred Stamps has really been slaying the crafting scene lately with their Glitter Glosses! They have come out with some really amazing colors, and most recently released their Electric and Gemstone collections. Currently, my favorite colors of Glitter Gloss are Candy Apple, Electric Purple, Seafoam, and, as of this project, Onyx!
I set the glitter glossed panel aside to dry. I then used a stitched rectangle die to cut out a small box for my sentiment. I heat embossed the sentiment "You make my chest burst with love" in white embossing powder. For my last bought of cutting, I cut out an A2-sized piece of dark gray cardstock.
To adhere my card together, I placed my glitter glossed panel onto the A2 dark gray panel, which created a dark gray frame around my Onyx Glitter Gloss swirl. I adhered my creature and my sentiment with foam tape to the glitter glossed panel. To finish the card, I adhered my card panel to an A2 card base.
I also wanted to create a fun envelope liner with this envelope that also followed the color scheme. So I took the insect-like alien stamp included in the Bursting Love set, inked it in black, and stamped it onto the dark gray cardstock. I finally used my envelope liner template to cut out the liner and adhered it to a black envelope.
And that's how I made my card! I would definitely try to use a Glitter Gloss on a similar colored paper to create that awesome monochromatic effect with some varied texture.
Happy Crafting!!
