Becoming a Mermaid

Hello there! This is new DT member Ashlea and I'm super excited to be writing my first post for Kindred Stamps today. I chose the well loved Chubby Mermaid stamp set for my first card because I just love the idea of how happy she is being herself and I wanted to make her the star of this card.

I have a very clean and simple design style but I often use pops of color or fun techniques to add interest to my cards. For this card, I used alcohol ink with foiling for a shiny, water-y look. To achieve this I used a piece of Alcohol Ink card stock (or you could use YUPO paper) and used a dark blue, light blue, and light pink ink colors. I also used some alcohol ink blending solution to create movement in the piece so the colors would swirl and combine with each other.
To add the foil to the piece, I waited for the ink to be *almost* dry. If you're familiar with alcohol inks, you'll know they get quite tacky before they dry completely and this is exactly what you want for the foil to stick to the piece. Simply lay your foil on top of the alcohol ink piece (shiny side up) and smooth over the card stock with a bone folder. This will make sure the foil adheres well to the tacky parts of the ink. Once you pull it off, you'll have these beautiful shiny spots throughout the piece that give so much interest. And it's super easy!
I hope you've enjoyed learning a bit about how I created this card and foiling alcohol inks! I'll see you soon!
