Gem Shaker Card

Gem Shaker Card

Hey crafty friends, it's Amanda from Pear Blossom Press again. As we're wrapping up the holidays, I'm making a few thank you cards. Santa was very generous this year and he deserves a special card ;) I was inspired to use one of my pre-colored characters from the Mine Workers set and pop him up on a gem shaped shaker. Isn't it cute?

This shaker was really easy to make. I die cut the gem once from glitter paper, then again from purple fun foam. I traced the outline of the die cut pieces onto a piece of purple cardstock, and clear acetate, then cut them out. That gave me four layers. I glued the glitter paper piece to the acetate window, then stamped the sentiment onto the acetate with white StazOn ink. Next, I lined up the fun foam piece and glued it to the back of the acetate. I filled the sections with purple sequins and some tiny clear diamonds. Then I glued the purple cardstock piece to the back to seal it up. Easy peasy.

To finish the card, I glued the shaker to a purple woodgrain card base and tucked a smaller die cut gem in between them. I glued the sweet character from Mine Workers on top, and added a few stamped gems, plus a few sequins and flat-backed rhinestones for more sparkle. To help the stamped gems really shine, I brushed over them with an Aqua Shimmer Pen and added a coat of Diamond Glaze.

I'd love to know what you think of the woodgrain pattern mixed with the sparkly glitter paper and gems. I don't think I would normally combine these, but they seem to work well together because of the character. You get the feeling that the gems are fresh from the mine, not polished in a jewelry store case. Let me know what papers you would have used!

As my term with the Kindred Stamps design team is coming to a close, I'd like to thank Audra, Rachel, Marcia, Brianne, Molly, and the whole Kindred team for having me; it has been tons of fun! Don't worry, I'll still be posting in the Facebook Fan Group, and I'll be teaching for Kindred Stamps at the upcoming Unstoppable Retreat in Athens, GA in February. I absolutely love this company and will continue to share the fun, pop culture inspired stamps! You can find the sister article to this post and continue to follow along with my crafty adventures over on my blog
