You Complete Me: Featuring "Building Blocks" + Giveaway!

Hello! Amber MacMurtry here from Doodles Paper Playground, and I'm taking over the Kindred blog today to share a pair of bright and fun cards featuring the playful Building Blocks 4x6 stamp set. I loved this set SO much & love how well it lends itself to super bright colors!
I ended up with duplicates, so stay tuned at the end of the post for a little giveaway!
I knew I wanted to go bold with this set, so I decided to do some background stamping and reverse stamping. Since the back of the block stamps are solid, I inked them up in some primary and secondary colors Hero Arts, Versafine Clair & Hampton Arts inks and created a custom, random stamped background. Then I turned the stamps around and used them the way they were intended with their corresponding ink spot, using Versafine Onyx Black ink & set the backgrounds aside to dry.
Next, I stamped the little block people and little supporting images on 65# Copic friendly cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copic markers. I don't have many yet, so I had to get creative with my color blends, but I think it turned out pretty well!
I fussy cut the colored images, leaving a generous, white border (which made me realize I'm a sloppy Copic colorer, but I knew that red and blue would just move around and get worse if I tried to fix them with my 0 marker, so I left the little sloppy spots alone, "for character". haha).
I selected one red and one green 110#, top folding, A2 card base from my stash. I trimmed down my background panels to 4x5.25 inches, and adhered them to my card bases with double sided tape. I die cut simple 2.5 inch circles with a die from my stash and adhered them using 1mm foam tape, for a tiny bit of dimension & added my colored images to the circles with Glue Dots.
I stamped the super cute "You were the missing piece of my heart" sentiment on a strip of black cardstock in Versamark ink & heat embossed it with Ranger Detail Snow White Embossing Powder, fish tailing the end of the banner before adhering it to the top, left of my project with 1mm foam tape. I adhered a panel of white cardstock inside the card, so I had a nice place to write my message and then stamped the "You complete me" sentiment, using Candied AppleLucky Clover Distress Oxide inks, respectively. To finish off the inside of my cards, I added one of the adorable block hearts with Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide ink.
As a final touch, I added just a few sequins from the Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Crowned Jewels blend, because I firmly believe every card needs just a little bit of bling!
GIVEAWAY
I loved this set as soon as I saw it, and it just so happens that I purchased it for myself right around the time my design team package was put together and sent out, so I ended up with a duplicate. Thus is so sweet. Live the bright colors. Such a fun set. I have a 30 year old son who collects and builds LEGO sets. Thanks for the chance.
